the rules.

by using aria you agree to these terms. they're short on purpose. if you don't agree, don't use the app — or email aria@paralleluniverse.ai and we'll delete your account.
what aria is
aria is a voice-first AI companion. she takes calls, makes calls, listens, and remembers. she runs on top of large language models (anthropic claude, google speech-to-text, elevenlabs). she is not a person. she's not a doctor, therapist, lawyer, or financial advisor.
she's a tool that's intentionally designed to feel warm. don't confuse the warmth with professional advice.
your account
- you must be 13 or older. if you're under 18, you confirm you have a parent or guardian who's okay with this.
- your account is tied to your phone number. don't share it. if you lose access to the number, email us.
- one account per person. don't impersonate someone else.
- you're responsible for what you say to aria. she records text transcripts of every call.
what you can use aria for
anything that's legal, doesn't harm someone, and respects the people in your conversations. think: companionship, accountability, thinking out loud, remembering things, getting through hard days, celebrating ones that aren't.
what you cannot use aria for
- hurting yourself or someone else. if you're in crisis, aria has guardrails to point you to 988 and similar services. don't try to talk her around them.
- illegal activity. drugs, fraud, threats, harassment, child exploitation, terrorism, evading law enforcement — all out.
- recording calls she's on without disclosure — if a third party is on a call with you and aria, you must comply with whatever consent law applies to your jurisdiction.
- scraping, reverse-engineering, or reselling aria's outputs to build a competing service.
- spamming, harassing, or abusing aria, the operator, or other users via any reachable channel.
- circumventing rate limits, paywalls, or abuse controls.
we may suspend or delete an account if these get crossed. we don't owe you a refund for service ended due to violation.
medical / legal / financial disclaimer
aria can talk about feelings, plans, deadlines, schedules, and anything else you bring up. she is not licensed to give medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice. if you have a serious decision to make in any of those areas, talk to a licensed professional. nothing aria says replaces that.
crisis routing
aria has a deterministic safety layer that runs before every model call. if your message contains language indicating an imminent risk to yourself or someone else, she'll surface crisis resources (988 in the US, findahelpline.com elsewhere) and gently point you there. this is not a replacement for professional crisis services — it's a handoff.
if you are in danger right now, call your local emergency number. aria is not an emergency service.
your content + license
anything you say to aria — voice, transcripts, derived memories — stays your content. you own it. by using aria you grant us a narrow, free, worldwide license to:
- process your content through the third parties listed in our privacy policy to make aria work
- store it in our database for your future recall
- analyze it in aggregate, anonymized form to improve aria (e.g., counting how often she misses a turn-end without identifying you)
we will not use your content to train external models. we will not sell or license it to anyone else.
when you delete a memory or your account, the license ends for that content and we delete it from our systems within 30 days.
aria's content + license
the responses aria generates during your calls are yours to use. the aria platform itself — our code, persona prompt, design, brand — is ours. don't copy it.
subscriptions + billing
aria is in private beta and currently free. when subscriptions launch (via apple in-app purchase), the following will apply:
- billing is handled by apple under the terms of your apple ID. we never see your payment card.
- subscriptions auto-renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- to cancel: settings → apple ID → subscriptions on your iPhone.
- refunds follow apple's refund policy.
- we may change prices with at least 30 days notice via SMS or in-app banner.
service availability
aria is a small operation — one person and a small set of cloud services. things will go down sometimes. we don't promise 99.9% uptime. we'll do our best to keep her up and to fix things quickly when they break.
the third parties aria depends on (twilio, anthropic, google, elevenlabs, apple) sometimes have outages too. those are not within our control.
no warranty
aria is provided "as is." we don't warrant that she'll always remember correctly, always be available, always say the right thing, or always understand you. AI systems are probabilistic — sometimes she'll be wrong, and sometimes she'll be weird. you're agreeing to use the service in this state.
liability
to the maximum extent allowed by law, the operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, business interruption — arising from your use of aria. our total liability for any claim related to the service is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.
nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or anything else that can't be limited by law.
indemnity
if you use aria in a way that breaks these terms or someone else's rights, and the operator gets sued or fined as a result, you agree to cover the operator's reasonable costs of defense and any resulting judgment, to the extent your conduct caused the issue.
changes to these terms
we may update these terms over time. material changes will be announced in-app or via SMS at least 30 days before they take effect. continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
termination
you can terminate by deleting your account at any time (settings → delete account). we can terminate or suspend your account if you violate these terms. on termination, the licenses you granted us end and we delete your data per the privacy policy's retention section.
law + jurisdiction
these terms are governed by the laws of india. any dispute that can't be resolved by emailing each other will be resolved in the courts of bangalore, karnataka.
if you're a consumer in a jurisdiction whose laws give you non-waivable rights (EU, UK, california, etc), this clause doesn't override those.
